Frequently Asked Questions

Your Solar Questions Answered

Everything you need to know about going solar with SIGMA SOLAR ENERGY.

What is the cost of a rooftop solar system? +
The cost depends on the system size. Typically, a 1kW system costs ₹50,000–₹70,000 before subsidy. With government subsidy under PM Surya Ghar, your net cost reduces significantly — a 3kW system can cost as low as ₹1.2 lakh after ₹78,000 subsidy.
How much subsidy do I get on rooftop solar? +
Under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, you can get subsidy up to ₹78,000 for a 3kW system. For 1kW it's ₹30,000 and for 2kW it's ₹60,000. The subsidy is directly credited to your bank account after installation.
How long does installation take? +
A standard rooftop solar installation takes 2–5 working days depending on system size and roof type. Our team completes the process efficiently with minimal disruption to your daily routine.
What is the lifespan of solar panels? +
Quality solar panels last 25–30 years. We provide panels with a 25-year performance warranty. Annual maintenance keeps them running at peak efficiency throughout their lifespan.
Will solar work during cloudy weather? +
Yes! Solar panels generate electricity even on cloudy days, though at reduced capacity (20–50%). Maharashtra's high solar irradiance of 5.5–6 kWh/m²/day makes it one of India's best states for solar energy.
What happens to excess solar energy? +
Through net metering, excess electricity generated by your solar system is sent back to the DISCOM grid and you receive credits on your electricity bill. This further reduces your monthly expenses.
Do I need battery backup? +
Battery backup is optional. With net metering, you can use the grid as your virtual battery. However, if you want power during grid outages or load shedding, a battery backup system is recommended.
What documents are needed for subsidy? +
You need: Aadhar card, electricity bill (latest), property ownership proof, bank account details, and passport photo. Our team handles the entire documentation and portal submission process for you.
